Anabolic steroids: why they are important for the body?

Anabolic steroids - an image rather collective. These include estrogens and androgens, corticosteroids (corticoids), produced exclusively in the adrenal cortex, are divided into glucocorticoid hormones (cortisol, corticosterone, cortisol, etc.) and mineralocorticoid hormone (aldosterone, deoxycorticosterone).

Glucocorticoids affect the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, and nucleic acids. Their main function - weight loss through the withdrawal of harmful substances in the urine. Mineral-corticosteroids stimulate the regulation of water-salt metabolism, salivary glands and sweat glands.

Female sex hormones (estrogens) are produced by the ovaries, they are responsible for the menstrual cycle, gestation and promote successful delivery. Estrogens as steroid hormones, form fat cells in the body, distributing them in the chest, buttocks, thighs and knees, creating a feminine silhouette. As they determine the calcium metabolism, hydration and functioning of the sebaceous glands.

Androgens are produced in women in lesser extent than in men. At puberty Androgens as steroid hormones, form genitals affect pubic and axillary hair growth, promote bone growth. In women, these hormones are produced all life and maintain the normal operation of the uterus and ovaries.
